Selfless Love

To the pleasant smile I long to see every morning,
To the warmest hug that can assuage me of worst of the pain,
To the sweetest kiss that can drench me in all the love in the Universe,
To the strongest power that can assure me am never alone in moments of distress.

My first school,
My best guide,
My true friend,
My honest critic.

The personification of perseverance, power, grit, and determination.
You are my role model and inspiration of how a human being should be and how a Mother must be!

Your very presence is magical and your smile, so damn infectious.
I can’t thank you enough for being my Mother.
All I can strive for is to see you happy and cheerful until the end of the Universe.

From the most fortunate, most pampered, happiest and the most loved kid on the planet,
Love you Mom!
Love you to the stars and back.

Soulmate

You never fail to enthrall me with your charm.
You never let me down whenever am depressed.
You make me smile a little more,
Help me weep way harder.

You're my companion to multiply my joy,
My soulmate to share my sorrow,
And my partner to hide my pain.

You're not just an inseparable part of my life,
But you are that drug that had been injected into my soul.
Ingrained in my brain,
You're just the best part of my life I can never do without.
MUSIC, you're the best, amazing and wonderful thing that ever happened to me in my lifetime.

Challenge

When the dusty winds blew,
When the noisy clouds thundered,
I swam this deep turbulent ocean,
Escaping the whales and the dolphins.

How big now the new challenge is?
When I mastered juggling with knives,
How monstrous is it to balance the weights?

Binary System

I yearn for intelligent conversations,
I crave those crazy nothings.
I delve deep into intense emotions,
I shallow dive over those unreal inhibitions.

Am that black, or that white.
Grey has never been my type.

Am that dark or that light,
Never can I find my way in the twilight.
Vibrant colours or just blindness,
Intense love or extreme hatred.

Am that obsolete binary system,
And for me, it has always been either one or just none.

Rain

Those tiny droplets started their journey all the way from the heavens,
Piercing the giant fleecy clouds,
Racing with lightning speed,
And finally reached the Earth’s atmosphere.

Panting and then taking a deep breath,
Pausing their way dancing over leaflets,
Jumped down from my terrace,
Just to glide over my forehead and cheeks,
Which are tired of waiting for their arrival standing in the balcony.

Greeted me with a sweet warm kiss,
And then, dunk me in delight of petrichor.

As always, I am in love with the rain.

Scars

When someone comforts you saying that your scars and imperfections do not define you,
My dear, unwelcome the undesirable suggestions.

For they not only define you but mould you into a stronger person.
They beautify you more than possessing a sculpted body.
And prepare you for bigger challenges.

They not only cleanse your misconceptions,
They also do help you aim for greater missions.

But honey,
Only if you could learn from what gave you those scars,
What pointed you out that you’re imperfect,
If you can make an effort to let them make you look beautiful,
And only if you can let them scar you to carve you.

He and She

She's beautiful.
He's charming.
She's talkative.
He's silent.
She's expressive.
He's not.

She expressed her love for him and he seemed silent. She requested him to accept her, and he turned it down. She wept uncontrollably and started to walk away from him.

He couldn't hold it anymore. He grabbed her hand and hugged her hard. He kissed her like crazy and knelt down on his feet. He surrendered himself and confessed his love for her.

The seemingly unrequited love had the happiest ending.
The Earth and the Sky are once again united by the incessant rain.

Cherish the Moment

Mom's recipes don't taste yummy until we're compelled to eat the hostel food.
Dad's care isn't understood until we miss his love being away from him due to circumstances.
Brother's fight isn't nostalgic until he gets busy being busy.
Friend's company isn't missed until we realise his/her absence.

We often take things for granted.
It's sad that we don't understand the pain of parting as long as we are together,
And we do not understand the love of someone as long as we take their presence for granted.

Nothing in life is easy. And nothing that we have is unworthy.
Love in all forms is precious and at times we immerse ourselves in other things so much that we start taking everything for granted.

Introspection

With the fuzzy pace our lives have caught,
It has become difficult to retrospect ourselves.
What’s right and what’s wrong?

It has become a necessity to run with time.
But, is it not essential to be wary of the course we are taking?
We are doing a year’s job in an hour’s time compared to the last decade.
Also, we are destroying a century old treasure in a minute’s time.
Is the pace desirable or dangerous?

Machines, mobile phones and metro trains.
Are they our convenience or we their slaves?
Are we on the path where we have imagined ourselves to be?
Or are we on the verge of becoming robots we wanted to build for ourselves but have never thought of becoming one?
Time for some INTROSPECTION.

Confession

I love it when that distant noise is your voice,
I love it when those sound decibels resonate to your giggle.
I love the same old air when filled with your presence,
I love that boring silence whenever you are just beside.
I love that breeze that carries your scent,
I love that sand that engraved your footprints.

I love it when you peep into my place just to find me there,
I love it when you worry knowing am not there.
I love it when you secretly grab a bite from my plate,
I love it when you envy someone because you hate to see me with them.
I love it when you try to convert that stare into frown,
I love it when you try to hide your love from me and still get caught.

I love it, even when it is a silly and stupid thing about you,
But I hate it to confess them all in front of you!

Productivity

A long time ago I have read something so fascinating that I recollect quite often till date.
That was back in 1920’s when an experiment was conducted by a behavioural scientist to increase the productivity of industrial workers.

Among many revelations that came as an outcome of the experiment, something really interested me.
As a part of this experiment, all the workers were asked to voice the problems they faced at work. They were assured that the management would not know anything of this discussion.

Most of them shared the difficulties they faced at work which could be addressed to help them contribute better. Some of them spoke extensively about hindrances they faced at work.
A few months later, it was time for findings.

“The workers felt so relieved to have someone to listen to them. Though most of the problems were not addressed, the productivity increased significantly”
This particular finding engaged me for a while.

True that it is not just about work and productivity as in the experiment. This valuable finding holds good in most of the cases.

Sometimes, we all need to be heard. Though it is not going to solve the problem, we need someone to listen to our problems. And at times, that solves it all.

So, listen. Listen to someone who wants to be heard.
You might not have a solution to their problem but your time could do magic for them.

The Trap

Sometimes I get stuck in a web of thoughts,
Trying to force myself out.
The harder I try, the difficult I find to escape the trap.

I try breaking and shattering the web.
And I mess it up much more.
I then calm down and allow some time to relax,
And then try again to untangle myself.
Yet, I feel arrested and locked up.

Being depressed, confused and clueless,
I start penning down all that’s weighing me down.
I am a writer,
And this is where I sometimes need to be.
Suddenly I feel the web transforming itself into a paradise.

You are not where you are, for no reason.
You do not meet people for no reason.
Be patient and give things, time.
And change the way you look at them.
Life is beautiful.
Allow yourself to feel it.
You are not born to live in misery and pain.

Love

I crave that endless love.
The limitless one, the honest one.
One that’s never exhausted,
One that’s never drained.

Why not?
The ocean can never have enough water.
It always craves for rain.

Solitude

Sometimes, I need myself more than anyone else.
To hear deep into, to yell at, so loud.

To scrape into, to dig into.
To revisit myself, to reinvent myself.
To answer myself, to confront myself.

I want to discover in me, those lonely pockets of calmness,
Those scary unattended apprehensions,
Those insecure heaps of questions,
And those exasperating confusions.

I sometimes badly need myself.
For otherwise, I’d feel choked and I’d feel like dying.
And at those times, only a huge dose of solitude can save me.

A Compliment

We are all those famished creatures with a hunger for appreciation, compliments, rewards, and accolades.
Sometimes, we are so starved that we feel tired and restless.
We seem so malnourished and deprived of energy, in spite of our routine intake.
We feel drained, we feel depressed.

Ever wondered what a genuine compliment or a heartfelt gratitude could do to a person?
It could, sometimes, transform the way they look at life.
It could, sometimes, give them a ray of hope when they have decided to give up.
A simple positive gesture could do a lot beyond one’s imagination.

So, compliment if you feel like, and appreciate if one deserves it.
Never underestimate the power of positive energy.
It’s like a boomerang that would come back to you.

Testing Time

I put in all my sincere efforts every single time.
I try to pick up all those broken fragments of myself and mend them all into a whole again.
I try to stitch the rugged parts of my soul and weave it to completion again.
I try to heal the withered wings of my dreams so that they can fly again.

Every single time,
I gather all my might to build myself again, one more time!

Every new situation is being a challenge.
Every new encounter is being a riddle.

All that keeps me going in spite of the odds is my heart’s content filled with satisfaction of truthful efforts and the strength of rectitude.

IDENTITY

I lie there pretending to be strong and firm,
Swatting the fumes of uncertainty,
Struggling to embrace the state of infinity,
Trying to conquer the mustering clouds of darkness,
Toiling myself to understand the truth,
Forcing my way to unmask the reality,
Appraising what I deserve,
Figuring out what I really desire,
Scraping and crafting myself to build my IDENTITY.

Be YOU

Shine to swallow the Sun,
Rain to submerge the mountains.
Storm to blind the universe,
Thunder to deafen the world.

Do not go by the crowd.
Do not step down to equal the mediocre.
You are spectacular,
You are so special.

Unleash your capability,
But do not unfold your complexity.
Explore the reality.
But do not settle down for normalcy.

You are unique.
You are exceptional.
You can’t be average.
You can’t be compared.
Be YOU!
And that’s why you are created.

Incredible World

"It’s the world of miracle and magic, where each one of us is enthralled by the charm it casts on us. The charm never leaves anyone of us untouched as the beauty lies in being bewitched by its magic”

The pureness of innocence and the power of the imprints it leaves on us carve one as a human being. What else could it be than the mesmerizing childhood?

As tender as the blossomed buds, as fresh as the pure wind, it is no exaggeration to say that childhood is what makes a person. Climbing, kneeling, crawling and jumping, it is the childhood that teaches us how to walk. It is the base that nurtures the way of life.

It is the only phase of life when one can truly be oneself with all the innocence, naught, smile and freedom. Childhood makes the best part of existence as it lays the foundation for the personality of someone who could make the world and it is as precarious as it could make someone who could break the world.

The amazing part of human life, the childhood is truly one phase that we would all like to revisit later once in a lifetime.

Heartbreak

It cut across my skin, veins, blood, and heart.
My heart became numb and my body cold.
My senses bled profusely paralyzing my emotions.

I wish it were a horrific death or a barbarous murder.
I wish it were anything but a savage heartbreak.

Massacred Hope

After decades of rain, the seed germinated once again,
Forcing itself against the rigid walls of mud,
Taking in every drop of moisture essential for its survival,
Fighting all the forces that are trying to suppress it down,
Holding close every bit of support,
Gathering all its strength,
And accomplishing a herculean task of winning the impossible.

It soon grew into a smiling sapling,
Glowing with the crown of success,
And inspiring the surroundings.

Enthralling her tiny world with her charm,
She reached her adolescence.
Her tender stalks lush green,
Her tiny buds about to bloom.

Before they could blossom into flowers
And spread their fragrance,
Something shook her serene world.

Unprepared and unexpected,
Got trampled to death in a disaster called DEVELOPMENT.

SHE

She’s a hurricane draped in skin.
She’s the storm brimming with shine.
She’s the fire camouflaged in robes,
She’s the volcano engulfed in a soul.

She’s the pinned grenade,
She’s the whirlpool subsided.
She’s the bullet unfired,
She’s the missile not launched.

She’s the unraveled mystery,
She’s the power stash.
She’s the impossible.
She’s the invincible.
